Visits, Schools & More.
I hope The Company of Goblins will make a brilliant text for children and teachers to use in schools. To find out about school visits that I have done please check out my blog. If you are interested in organizing a talk, teachers can contact my publisher, or preferably send me a message directly. I can do assemblies, talks, and workshops. It is so much fun finding out about goblins and mythology! I am a member of the Society of Authors.
A typical visit including a one hour session is charged at £150 plus travel expenses as per the Society of Authors guidelines. However, a discount of £50 can be arranged if a minimum of 15 books are purchased in advance or sold on the day.
If teachers want to use The Company of Goblins as a class text, there is a free reading guide that can be downloaded to accompany the book (see below). This is fifteen sessions in total, split into two sections. I would be really happy to get feedback for the sessions.

Reviews & Feedback
- “Dear Celia, thanks for your visit yesterday! The children have all been talking about the goblins and mythical creatures ever since...” Mr Munsie, Sarisbury CE Junior School - Myths and Legends Talk.
- “We were very privileged to be visited by Celia during our Book Fair week here at Charlton House. She talked about the impetus for her own writing and engaged children from Years 4 to 6 by her use of illustrations and book readings. The children are looking forward to drawing and writing about their own mythical creature for the competition! ” Mr Brazier, Charlton House School - Myths and Legends Talk.
- “Thank you for visiting Fareham Library, Celia. Children and adults were enthralled by your characters and hearing about how you write and illustrate. Children of all ages enjoyed drawing their own goblins. Thank you for staying on to talk to people afterwards too.” Ann and Louise, Fareham Library.
- “Celia Leofsy visited Corfe Mullen Library for a children's event to promote the Summer Reading Challenge. She presented a lively and interactive session to a group of children who had booked to hear the talk. Celia spoke about the inspiration behind her books and the history of goblin mythology. The children were encouraged to ask questions and even were able to create their own goblins. It was wonderful of Celia to provide this talk and the children really enjoyed meeting an author; it was a great way to promote the Summer Reading Challenge.” Jessica, Corfe Mullen Library.
- “A fabulous, pacey read by a talented author who clearly knows her subject inside out. I am currently reading this book to classes of seven to eleven year olds and all are equally enthralled. Looking forward to part two!” Mrs Anderson, Deputy Headteacher, St Edwards Catholic Primary School - Myths and Legends Talk
- “The children were engaged by the author’s book and couldn't wait to hear more. They were fascinated by her ability to draw the characters then and there.” Mrs Handley (Year 6) Chorlton CE Primary School - Myths and Legends Talk
- “Celia led a session for children in the summer holidays telling them all about goblins and nixies. The children loved the stories and then enjoyed making up their own mythical creature. Celia also held a coffee morning and spoke all about her book, poems and how she got published. Both sessions went really well and Celia appeals to both children and adults alike.” Sarah Greenaway, Events Officer, Gosport Discovery Centre
