Last night was the Christmas meeting of the Hampshire Writers' Society - a festive event where members are invited to dress up to match the theme for the evening.
As you can see from the picture on the right, the theme for the night was Shakespeare. The main speakers, Professor Stanley Wells and the Rev Dr Paul Edmondson, presented “Shakespeare beyond doubt” - a counter to the argument presented earlier in the year by Dr Ros Barber that the Bard possibly didn't write all his plays. Will we ever know? (Professor Wells and Dr Edmondson in the centre, see below)

The competition for the evening was also thematic - “Write the first three pages of an opening scene in the style of Shakespeare”. The winning entrant, Joan Robinson-Harris, was given a treat by having her scene enacted, "Seeking Love Late" , by The Titchfield Players. I have to say, the winning entry was superb, very enjoyable! Lastly, a very big "THANK YOU" to the Titchfield Festival Theatre Group for making the evening memorable. They have a wonderful programme of events this Christmas, and for the year ahead, please see their website for details.
